more cute building block dresses

Since the release of the Building Block Dress book last month, there's been an incredible amount of amazing sewing projects popping up everywhere. Today, I thought I'd share some of my favorite creations from fellow sewing enthusiasts who’ve been inspired by this fantastic guide. Miren from Solo Sewing has become such a dear friend ever since our time in Barcelona two years ago. Her latest project caught my eye—a delightful A-line version of the dress featuring an external neck facing and practical pockets. She mentioned being inspired by 1960s swing dresses for this design, and I must say, it turned out beautifully, don't you agree? She also got creative with the Building Block Dress pattern to create a space-themed costume for a school play. Isn’t it just the coolest idea? The hoop skirt adds such a whimsical touch—perfect for both performances and Halloween parties alike! Speaking of costumes, Emily's rainbow-dressed creation blew me away. The way she blended color-blocking with a scalloped collar is pure genius. Add her little brother's admiration, and it’s hard not to fall in love with this ensemble. The headband really ties everything together perfectly. Ashley and Emily of Frances Suzanne always manage to craft the cutest dresses for their nieces, and this one is no different. With its classic white collar, floral prints, empire waist, and elegant pleats, it exudes timeless charm. It’s the kind of dress you’d want to keep forever. Jennifer took things in a slightly different direction with her corduroy version. Her square neckline, empire waist, button front, and the overall color scheme make for a cozy yet stylish fall or winter dress. It’s proof that once you get comfortable with the techniques in the book, you can confidently experiment and adapt the patterns to suit your style. Kelly embraced asymmetry with her unique collar design, which I absolutely adore. Her choice of smaller prints for the collar, cuffs, and pockets adds a playful twist. It’s such a fresh take on the original pattern. As for me, I’m putting the finishing touches on S’s Halloween costume. I can’t wait to share the final look next weekend. Fingers crossed everything goes smoothly! I hope everyone’s Halloween sewing projects are coming along well. There’s something magical about creating costumes and outfits yourself—it’s part of what makes this season so special. Here's hoping the season brings plenty of inspiration and joy for all of us. Happy sewing! (And if you're curious about my upcoming costume reveal, stay tuned—I promise it will be worth the wait!) --- Let me know if you'd like further tweaks or additional content added!
