core wardrobe: bias-cut garibaldi a-line skirt

Over the past couple of years, I've shared quite a bit about the tailored trousers I created for my core wardrobe. These pants have become staples in my closet and will continue to be a part of my daily wear until warmer weather arrives. Personally, I’m more of a three-season trouser wearer—once summer rolls around, I transition completely to skirts and the occasional pair of shorts. This preference might stem from having lived in the hot and humid climate of Manhattan and now enduring the dry yet equally scorching heat of Madrid, but I just can't bring myself to wear trousers when the temperature rises. This year, alongside my trousers, I also crafted some bias-cut, elastic-waist Garibaldi skirts, which have been getting a lot of use too. For the waistbands, I followed a tutorial I found online. ![Skirt Image](https://example.com/skirt-image.jpg) These skirts are proving to be versatile and comfortable, and I anticipate wearing them well into the summer months. To maximize their utility, I made them in my go-to colors: black, navy, camel, and cream. This allows me to create monochromatic outfits with my favorite sweaters (my absolute favorite look), but I can also mix and match them easily. Additionally, they blend seamlessly with other wardrobe staples. Both these skirts and trousers see more wear than anything else in my closet, making getting dressed a breeze. On any given day, my primary decision revolves around whether I want to wear a skirt or trousers, and if so, which color. From there, it's simple: a white t-shirt paired with one of my sweaters, occasionally topped off with a classic shirt. I finish off the outfit with a blazer or scarf, depending on how much warmth I need. This is the essence of my core wardrobe—around 20 pieces in a carefully curated color palette. ![Core Wardrobe](http://bsg-i.nbxc.com/blog/9968bba3cf17d058ae383c3afe557578.jpg) While these are the items I rely on most, they're not the only things I own. As a fashion designer, I do enjoy experimenting with prints and patterns, especially during the spring and summer seasons. You'll see more of that soon! Even though these basics form the foundation of my wardrobe, I still love to experiment with prints and colors when the occasion arises. For those of you who appreciate more vibrancy in your wardrobe, the principle of focusing on a few key colors remains a useful guideline. Trust me, I definitely expand my horizons with bold prints during warmer months! Stay tuned for more updates. --- As someone who designs clothes, I find it fascinating how a small selection of versatile pieces can simplify life while leaving room for creativity. My goal is always to create a wardrobe that feels practical yet inspiring, something I think many people can relate to.
