look of the day: striped separates
I recently stumbled upon a picture featuring Irina Shayk in what looked like a stylish yet comfortable airport ensemble. Although I doubt I’ll ever rock this exact combination anytime soon, I can’t stop daydreaming about how I could tweak it to suit my personal style. Those pants? They remind me so much of our Montauk Trousers!
Taking a closer look, it seems like the pants and shirt aren’t made from the same fabric. The stripes on the top piece are definitely blue, whereas the ones below appear to be a deep navy or even black. I love the contrast! For the top, I imagine recreating it with either the Classic Shirt or the Camp Shirt + Dress pattern. The latter has that relaxed, pajama-like vibe I adore.
Before seeing this photo, I never thought about making a pair of striped Montauk trousers, but now it’s all I can think about. I’d probably go for a cropped fit, inspired by Irina, paired with an oversized, breezy white linen Classic Shirt.
Alternatively, I’m tempted to team these trousers with a striped Verdun Woven T-Shirt, similar to the one our advisor Virginia showcased in her recent post. But let’s be honest—safety first! I’d likely opt for something simpler, like a plain white tee or maybe a solid green or orange.
